Description:2-Iodomesitylene is a chloride that reacts with an alkyl halide to form a C-C cross-coupling reaction. It is used as a polymerization initiator in cationic polymerization reactions, which are efficient and reactive. 2-Iodomesitylene is soluble in organic solvents such as trifluoroacetic acid and is therefore suitable for the synthesis of polymers containing aromatic hydrocarbons or divalent hydrocarbons. 2-Iodomesitylene has been shown to react with nucleophiles such as nitrogen or carbon nucleophiles, forming useful products such as vinyl ethers.
