• Description: Trans-isomyristicin is a natural product that has been isolated from the roots of Astragalus plants. It can be prepared by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and has been shown to have antimicrobial activity. Trans-isomyristicin is also able to inhibit the growth of fungi, such as Aspergillus niger, and reduce lipid peroxidation in rat liver cells. Trans-isomyristicin has pharmacokinetic properties that are similar to myristicin, which is found in nutmeg. The structural analysis of trans-isomyristicin suggests that it is a metabolite of myristicin and may cause some forms of metabolic disorders.
