Description

(+)-Isolariciresinol is a sesquiterpene lactone that is found in human feces and has been shown to have antimicrobial activity against human pathogens. It inhibits the production of fatty acids and prostaglandins by blocking the enzyme complex involved in their synthesis. (+)-Isolariciresinol also has a strong antioxidant effect, which may be due to its ability to scavenge anion radicals. This compound has been shown to inhibit cell signaling pathways and promote apoptosis in cancer cells. The biological properties of this compound are not well understood, but it has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activities in mice.
