Product Information
3-isomangostin is a biologically active compound found in mangosteen. This molecule has been shown to inhibit prostate cancer cell growth and induce apoptosis in these cells. 3-Isomangostin also possesses antioxidative properties and can inhibit the production of malondialdehyde (MDA) and 4-hydroxynonenal (HNE). The biological activity of this compound has been attributed to its ability to modulate the p65 subunit of NF-κB, which leads to the inhibition of inflammatory signaling pathways. 3-isomangostin is not active against mesua, a natural product that inhibits the binding of 3-isomangostin with p65. It has also been shown that 3-isomangostin is not a competitive inhibitor of Uridine diphosphate (UDP)-glucose pyrophosphorylase.
