Description

Isorhapontigenin is a natural compound found in plants that has been shown to have significant cytotoxic effects. It inhibits the activity of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) and causes apoptosis in cells by activating the caspase cascade. Isorhapontigenin also induces hypoglycemic effects by inhibiting the production of glucose in liver cells, as well as by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells. The anti-diabetic effect is related to its inhibition of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (pHBA), which is involved in signaling pathways associated with glucose uptake and metabolism. Isorhapontigenin also has anti-inflammatory properties, which can be attributed to its activation of signal pathways involving c-jun phosphorylation.
