Restanza is a macrolide antibiotic that binds with the 50S ribosomal subunit and inhibits bacterial growth. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis by binding to the ribosome, inhibiting bacterial growth. Restanza can be used for the treatment of infectious diseases caused by bacteria such as Neisseria meningitis, Haemophilus influenzae, and Streptococcus pneumoniae. The drug is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens. Restanza has been shown to have chemoattractant properties that are similar to those of colony-stimulating factor (CSF). This may be due to its ability to bind to CSF receptors on neutrophils which results in increased chemotaxis. Restanza also appears to have antimicrobial activity against antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.
