It has been shown to inhibit phosphodiesterase type-5 (PDE5), which is responsible for degradation of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), and was used in patients with cancer. LY24522473 also inhibits the estrogen receptor modulators, leading to suppression of tumor growth in animal models. The drug has been found to have anti-inflammatory effects by reducing matrix metalloproteinases and inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, IL-8, and IL-10.
