Loxoprofen binds to cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. The COX enzymes are necessary for the production of prostaglandins that lead to inflammation and pain. Loxoprofen also inhibits bacterial translocation by binding to bacterial lipopolysaccharides on the cell surface and preventing their interaction with immune cells.
