Description:Lonafarnib is a selective, non-peptidomimetic competitive inhibitor of farnesyl trasferase with IC50 of 1.9nM. Farneslyl transferase is involved in post-translational lipid modifications of H-Ras, progerin and other farnesylated proteins, and plays a role in cancer as well as in a rare genetic disease known as progeria or Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome, causing premature and rapid aging.
