Product Information
- Triisopropoxylanthanum
Lanthanum isopropoxide (LIO) is a compound that contains the elements lanthanum, phosphorus and oxygen. LIO has been shown to have enolate anion character and is soluble in polar solvents such as water or alcohols. LIO can act as a catalyst for the asymmetric synthesis of β-unsaturated ketones. The product of this reaction includes hydroxylamine, which can undergo hydration reactions to form nitroso compounds. The presence of chlorine atoms in the reaction product forms chloroform, which has been studied extensively as a potential carcinogen. LIO also exhibits ferroelectric properties and generates light emission when excited by heat or radiation.
