Licoflavonol is a flavonoid molecule that exhibits anti-cancer activity by targeting effector proteins. It has been shown to inhibit the replication of viruses, such as the herpes virus, and can be used for drug repositioning in vitro. Licoflavonol also inhibits the growth of skin cancer cells by interfering with their ability to proliferate and form colonies. This compound also has antioxidant properties and may be beneficial in treating diabetic patients who suffer from oxidative stress. Licoflavonol is a glycyrrhizin glycoside that contains two phenolic acids, one of which is isolico-flavonol. The chemical structures of licoflavonols are similar to those of isolicoflavones, including hydrogen bonding interactions between the hydroxyl groups on adjacent molecules.
