L-Leucine amide is an amide that is activated with trifluoroacetic acid. It has been shown to have inhibitory properties on the cell nuclei, fatty acid synthesis, and hydrogen fluoride. L-Leucine amide has also been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes such as fatty acid hydroxylase and acetylcholinesterase at a concentration of 10 mM. This compound has also been shown to be insoluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol or chloroform. L-Leucine amide can form an intermolecular hydrogen bond with other molecules, for example with human serum albumin or gelatin. The optimum pH for this compound is 3.2-4.5.
