Leucopterin is a natural product that has been shown to inhibit the phosphodiesterase activity of a number of biological samples. It is used as a growth factor for mammalian tissue and has been shown to have a number of biological properties. Leucopterin has been shown to be stable in the presence of strong acids, bases, and hydrogen bonding interactions. The chemical stability of leucopterin was tested by adding it to sodium carbonate, which produced an acid with a pH between 4-5. This chemical stability may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with other compounds. Leucopterin also inhibits streptococcus faecalis and can be used as a sample preparation agent before testing for bacterial colonies on agar plates.
