Lithospermoside is a natural compound that belongs to the group of benzoic acid derivatives. It has been found in plants, such as Euphorbia cerifera and Euphorbia lingua, and has been used for medicinal purposes in traditional Chinese medicine. Lithospermoside has been shown to have radical scavenging activities in vitro and has also been shown to have potential use as a template molecule for drug design. The pharmacokinetic properties of lithospermoside have also been studied using a liquid chromatograph with an acetate extract of Euphorbia cerifera. Lithospermoside was detected using deionized water and appeared to be most effective when given orally, although it may also be administered intravenously or topically.
