Description:Lucidenic acid N is a caffeic acid derivative that has anticomplement activity. It is found in the mushroom Ganoderma lucidum and has been shown to have biological properties. Lucidenic acid N has been shown to inhibit growth of some tumors, including those induced by carcinogens, and also blocks the development of allergic responses. Lucidenic acid N has been shown to reduce the glomerular filtration rate and urea nitrogen in rats given a high protein diet. This compound also inhibits proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and can promote angiogenesis by activating the epidermal growth factor receptor pathway.
