It is used in the synthesis of daptomycin, an antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Fmoc-Trp(Boc)-OH is also used as a synthon in the production of natural products such as kynurenine, which has been shown to have anti-cancer properties.
