Product Information
Name:3-Methoxy-2-methylaniline
Synonyms:
- 2-Methyl-3-aminoanisole
Brand:Biosynth
Description:3-Methoxy-2-methylaniline is an arylamine that is used as a cytotoxic agent. It has significant cytotoxic activity and is used in clinical trials to treat cancer. 3-Methoxy-2-methylaniline can be synthesized from the condensation of acetaldehyde with nitrobenzene, followed by reduction with sodium borohydride. The pyran ring in this molecule is formed through cyclocondensation of two acetylene molecules. This drug binds to DNA, inhibiting DNA synthesis, and inhibits protein synthesis by binding to ribosomes. The mechanism of action for this compound is similar to that of other arylamines that are used as anticancer drugs (e.g., acridine dyes).
