4-Methylaminobenzoic acid is a chemical substance that belongs to the group of benzoic acids. It is used as an analytical reagent in the determination of tiglic acid and uv absorption. 4-Methylaminobenzoic acid has antioxidative properties and can be used for the treatment of oxidative stress. This drug binds to macrophages, which are cells that destroy foreign substances and clean up dead cells or cell debris in the body, preventing them from releasing inflammatory substances. 4-Methylaminobenzoic acid also inhibits carbon source utilization by bacteria, slowing growth and metabolism. The molecule has a macrocyclic structure with two hydrogen bonds that allow it to bind to protein molecules on the surface of bacteria.
