Description:

3-Methoxy-2-methylbenzoic acid is a diazotization agent that is used to produce bromoethane. It is also used as an initiator in the synthesis of dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran. 3-Methoxy-2-methylbenzoic acid can be recycled and is used to synthesize methylbenzene, chloroanisole, and grignard reaction products such as chlorobenzene and low yield. 3-Methoxy-2-methylbenzoic acid has been shown to have a high yield for these reactions in comparison to other diazotization agents.
