Product Information
H-Met-Arg-OH acetate salt is a metabolite of the amino acid L-methionine. It is also a dipeptide, which consists of two amino acids that are linked by an amide bond. The linkage between the amino acids in this compound is clockwise instead of the usual left to right orientation. This means that H-Met-Arg-OH acetate salt is not an essential amino acid and can be synthesized by the body. Salmonella typhimurium uses H-Met-Arg-OH acetate salt as a precursor for its synthesis of L-arginine and L-methionine, which are essential to bacterial growth and survival. Residues have been found in foods such as milk and eggs, and it has been shown that cotransduction can lead to resistance against antibiotics such as streptomycin and tetracycline.
