H-Met-Gln-OH TFA salt enhances the production of reactive oxygen species and induces the release of proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin 1, and interleukin 6. This protein also cleaves sulfoxide bonds in proteins, which may be due to its ability to catalyze the oxidation of sulfhydryl groups in proteins. H-Met-Gln-OH TFA salt has been shown to be effective in enhancing red blood cell production, which may be due to its ability to cleave hemoglobin S bonds in erythrocytes.
