Description:H-Met-Val-OH is a non-protein amino acid that is the product of a biosynthetic reaction in which c2c12 cells are incubated with leucine, valine, and methionine. H-Met-Val-OH is used as a substrate for protein synthesis in the ribosomal subunit. It has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in calf muscle and cultured leukemia cells at high concentrations. H-Met-Val-OH inhibits protein synthesis by binding to the ternary complex and preventing it from binding with mRNA. This results in inhibition of mRNA translation.
