Description:Mating Factor a-SK2 is an amino acid sequence of peptides that are produced by bacteria in the genus Streptomyces. The Mating Factor a-SK2 has been shown to be involved in pheromone production and mating. It has also been found to be a major component of the Streptomyces coelicolor mating factor. Mating Factor a-SK2 is composed of three amino acids, n-terminal -Lys(Acm)-Ser(Acm)-Asn(Acm), which have been synthesized chemically. It has also been found to have enzymatic activity against the enzyme N-acetylmuramic acid 6-O-sulfotransferase (Mur6).
