It is one of the most important hirsutene derivatives and can be found in cultures of this fungus. The chemical structure of 6-methoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman-4-ol consists of a lactam ring with an exocyclic methyl group at C6. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic data indicate that the compound has a cyclopropane ring at C3 and a four membered ring at C5. This compound belongs to the family of skeletons and has been shown to be active against some fungi in lab experiments.
