Description:

6-Methoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman-4-ol is a tricyclic lactam that has been isolated from the basidiomycete Lentinus. It is one of the most important hirsutene derivatives and can be found in cultures of this fungus. The chemical structure of 6-methoxy-2,2-dimethylchroman-4-ol consists of a lactam ring with an exocyclic methyl group at C6. The nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic data indicate that the compound has a cyclopropane ring at C3 and a four membered ring at C5. This compound belongs to the family of skeletons and has been shown to be active against some fungi in lab experiments.
