Description:8-Methoxyquinoline is a copper complex with the molecular formula Cu(8-methoxy-2,3,4,5-tetrahydroquinoline)Cl. It has been shown to have biological properties such as anti-inflammatory and anticancer activities. The crystal structure of 8-methoxyquinoline was determined by X-ray crystallography and revealed that it contains two phenyl groups (phenyl group at C3 and C8), which are protonated at physiological pH. 8-Methoxyquinoline has been shown to be selective for tumor xenografts in mice when combined with moxifloxacin hydrochloride. Furthermore, the optical properties of 8-methoxyquinoline were investigated by fluorimetry and found to be enhanced in the presence of hydrochloric acid.
