Methyl heptadecanoate is a fatty acid that can be used as a biodiesel fuel. It is a liquid at room temperature and has a boiling point of approximately 150 degrees Celsius. Methyl heptadecanoate is an important chemical intermediate in the production of other chemicals, including acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and oligosaccharides. Methyl heptadecanoate also has biological properties, such as inhibiting acetylcholinesterase activity and inducing apoptosis in cancer cells. It also has been shown to have antimicrobial effects against bacteria like E. coli, S. aureus, and C. albicans, as well as antifungal effects against A. niger and P. aeruginosa.
