2-Methoxy-6-nitroaniline is an organic compound with the formula CHNO. It is a colorless solid that is soluble in many solvents. The compound has two enantiomers, which are produced by the reaction of 2-methoxy-6-nitrobenzaldehyde with sodium hypochlorite. The chemical reaction produces a racemic mixture of the two compounds, which can be separated into their respective enantiomeric forms by chromatography on silica gel or column chromatography on alumina. This product's nmr spectra show six signals at δ 7.68 (d, J=8 Hz), δ 6.88 (d, J=8 Hz), δ 5.74 (s), δ 4.74 (s), δ 3.76 (s) and δ 2.92 ppm (t, J=8 Hz). These signals correspond to the nitro group, three methyl
