Product Information
- Benzenepropanoic Acid, 4-Bromo-, Methyl Ester
- Methyl-3-(4-bromphenyl)propanoat
- 3-(4-Bromophenyl)propionic acid methyl ester
Methyl 3-(4-bromophenyl)propanoate is a chemical that can be used as an intermediate in organic syntheses. It is made by the cross-coupling of pinacolborane with methyl 4-bromobenzoate. The reaction yields methyl 3-(4-bromophenyl)propanoate and pinacol, which can be recycled. This chemical is also used to synthesize esters and hydroboration products. Methyl 3-(4-bromophenyl)propanoate can be made through the ionic liquid esterification of boronic acid with methyl propionate in the presence of an ionic liquid such as 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate (BMIMBF).
