2-Methoxy-6-methylaminopyridine is a synthetic, pyridylamine compound that is used as an antifungal drug. It has been shown to be active against copper oxide and copper chloride inorganic fungicides, which makes it an effective fungicide for the control of potato blight. 2-Methoxy-6-methylaminopyridine has been shown to have a synergistic effect when combined with copper sulfate and copper hydroxide. This synthetic compound also has the ability to inhibit the growth of organisms that are resistant to chloramphenicol, erythromycin, or tetracycline antibiotics. 2-Methoxy-6-methylaminopyridine can also be used as a photocatalyst for the removal of aromatic hydrocarbons from recycled oil products, such as transformer oil.
