Product Information
Methyl 3-(2-bromophenyl)propanoate is a cross-coupled imidazoline with a positron emission spectrum. It is used as a ligand for positron emission tomography (PET) in order to measure the activity of imidazoline receptors in various tissues, such as the pancreas and brain. Methyl 3-(2-bromophenyl)propanoate is injected into the body and binds to specific types of tissue, emitting a positron which is captured by an external detector. The number of emitted positrons correlates to the concentration of imidazoline receptors in that particular tissue.
Methyl 3-(2-bromophenyl)propanoate is metabolized by esterases and hydrolyzed by glucuronidases, oxidized by cytochrome P450 enzymes, reduced by glutathione reductase, or conjugated with glucuronic acid.
