Product Information
7-methoxynaphthalen-1-ol is a hydrogen chloride that catalyzes the conversion of 5-hydroxytryptamine to 5-hydroxyindole. It has been shown to be effective in inhibiting the growth of mutant strains of E. coli, as well as leaves from plants. 7-Methoxynaphthalen-1-ol also reacts with an alkene to form an isomer and a hydroxyl group. It has been shown to reduce carbonyl groups and react with oxygenated compounds. 7-Methoxynaphthalen-1-ol is used in China for anorectic purposes due to its ability to lower blood sugar levels. It can also be used as a precursor for dyes or pharmaceuticals because it is easily reduced and converted into other products.
