- 6-(4-Hydroxy-6-methoxy-7-methyl-3-oxo-5-phthalanyl)-4-methyl-4-hexenoic acid6-(1,3-Dihydro-7-hydroxy-5-methoxy-4-methyl-1-oxoisoben zofuran-6-yl)-4-methyl-4-hexanoic acid
Brand:Biosynth
Description:Mycophenolic acid is a guanosine monophosphate synthesis pathway blocker. It selectively inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH) which blocks the conversion of inosine-5-phosphate and xanthine-5-phosphate to guanosine-5-phosphate. This drug inhibits de novo purine biosynthesis. Mycophenolic acid is an immunosuppressant metabolite present in drug formulations that are used to prevent rejections after organ transplants. It has also shown to have antibacterial and antifungal properties.
