Description

Massonianoside B is a natural product extracted from the root of Pueraria lobata. It has been shown to induce mitochondrial-dependent apoptosis in human leukemia cells and inhibit cellular proliferation. Massonianoside B binds to the histone H3 protein and inhibits the dinucleotide phosphate binding site of histone H3, which leads to decreased levels of protocatechuic acid and p-hydroxyphenylpyruvic acid. These metabolites are involved in cancer cell proliferation, so this compound may be effective against solid tumours. Massonianoside B also induces histone lysine deacetylation and enhances the transcriptional repression by inhibiting the expression of genes related to cancer growth.
