Marinobufagenin is a naturally occurring bufadienolide. It has been shown to have inhibitory properties against the α1 subunit of the G protein and to affect the growth factor-β1. Marinobufagenin also has cardiac effects on blood pressure and heart rate in rats, as well as physiological effects on various other organs in rats. Marinobufagenin is used in an experimental model for primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) to study its biological properties and cellular physiology, as well as for pharmacological studies.
