Description:

Mometasone furoate hydrate is a nasal steroid that is used to treat asthma and allergic rhinitis. It works by reducing inflammation and swelling in the nasal passages. Mometasone furoate hydrate has been shown to be more effective than placebo in the treatment of symptoms of allergic rhinitis, including nasal congestion, sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes. This drug also reduces eosinophil cationic protein (ECP) levels in the blood. Mometasone furoate hydrate may also work by binding to an unidentified receptor activity that exists on cells involved in allergic reactions. It is not known if this drug can be used for long-term management of symptoms of asthma or allergic rhinitis without causing side effects such as adrenal gland problems or Cushing's syndrome.
