Product Information
- 4-Iodobutyric acid methyl ester
- Methyl 4-Iodobutanoate
Methyl 4-iodobutyrate is an optically pure chiral compound that is derivatised with a pyrrole, diastereomer, benzodiazepine binding, and biomolecular group. This molecule has been shown to have hepatoprotective properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of fatty acid. Methyl 4-iodobutyrate binds to the repressor protein in the promoter region of the gene that encodes for fatty acid synthase (FAS), preventing transcription of this gene. It also has affinity for primary alcohols and phosphoranes.
