Methyl 13-methylmyristate also inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by suppressing cyclooxygenase activity. This product can be extracted from methanol and purified by recrystallization or column chromatography. It also contains saponins, which are pharmacologically active compounds that may contribute to the drug's effects on inflammation and pain sensation.
