Cis-1-Methylstyrene is a colorless liquid with a boiling point of 150°C. It is used as a reactant in the synthesis of epoxides, which are important intermediates in organic chemistry. Cis-1-Methylstyrene is used to synthesize enantiomerically pure cis-epoxides by reacting with anhydrous acetonitrile and an aziridine. The reaction leads to the formation of two possible stereoisomers: the 1,2-trans and 1,3-cis isomers. The product mixture can be separated into these two types by distillation or chromatography. Epoxides are used as reactants for many other reactions such as transfer reactions, cycloadditions, and ring opening reactions. These reactions lead to the formation of new molecules with different properties from those that were originally present in the reactants. Apoptotic cell death has been observed in myocardial cells treated with cis-
