10-Methyl-9(10H)-acridone is a molecule that belongs to the group of acridones. It has been shown to have antioxidant properties and can be used as a photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy. 10-Methyl-9(10H)-acridone has also been shown to inhibit the mitochondrial membrane potential and cause cell death by electron reduction. The mechanism of this reaction is not yet known, but it is thought that it may involve the prenyl group, which can act as an electron donor in the reaction. 10-Methyl-9(10H)-acridone has fluorescence properties and can be used for detection of biological reactions or for light emission in organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs).
