1-Methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carbaldehyde is a crystalline anion with a spectrum that can be used as a chemical marker. It has one enantiomer and two diastereoisomers. This compound can be deprotonated to form the corresponding salt or disulfide. It reacts with nucleophiles such as HCl to form the corresponding carbonyl compounds. 1-Methyl-1H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carbaldehyde also reacts with bromohydrins to form carbonyl compounds in the presence of sodium hydroxide. This reaction is stereoselective and forms only one isomer because of its elimination reactions.
