Brand:Biosynth
Description:Melamine is a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic amine that is used as a flame retardant, plasticizer, and textile dye. The toxicity of melamine has been evaluated in animal studies, which showed that it has low acute oral toxicity but high inhalation and dermal toxicity profiles. The acute effects of melamine are due to its capacity to bind to the erythrocyte membrane and cause hemolysis. Melamine can also react with cyanuric acid to form cyanuramide, which can be detected by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) analysis. The carcinogenic potential of melamine has not been determined, but there is evidence that it may be genotoxic and have the potential to induce cancer in humans.
