Description:5-Methoxy-2-tetralone is an asymmetric chiral compound that is synthesized from two commercially available starting materials. The synthesis of 5-methoxy-2-tetralone was achieved in a single step, scalable synthesis using hydrochloric acid as a catalyst. The demethylation of 5-methoxy-2-tetralone to dopamine was catalysed by tripterygium and the carbonyl reduction of dopamine with trifluoroacetic acid for the synthesis of 5'-hydroxy-2' tetralone was catalyzed by 13c NMR spectroscopy.
