Description:1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine hydrochloride is a high-potency inhibitor of the K+ channels. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of these channels in lead compound screening and optimization. The modification of potassium channels by 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine hydrochloride has been evaluated using a patch clamp technique on rat erythrocytes. This inhibitory activity was found to be concentration dependent and voltage sensitive. 1-(4-Methoxyphenyl)piperazine hydrochloride was also shown to have pharmacological effects, such as analgesia, sedation and muscle relaxation.
