2-Methoxyresorcinol is a metabolite that is formed by the oxidation of resorcinol. It has two methoxy groups, which are functional groups that are usually found in organic compounds. 2-Methoxyresorcinol has been shown to inhibit the growth of tumour cells in vitro and in vivo. It also inhibits cell growth by decreasing protein synthesis and cell division.
