Product Information
Name:3-Methyl hippuric acid
Synonyms:
- N-(3-Methylbenzoyl)glycine
Brand:Biosynth
Description:3-Methyl hippuric acid is a metabolite of benzoic acid and 3-hydroxybenzoic acid. It is found in human urine, where it is excreted as the conjugate of s-phenylmercapturic acid. 3-Methyl hippuric acid can be detected in urine samples with a test sample volume of 1 mL and an analytical sensitivity of 1 ng/mL. The concentration–time curves are linear over the range 0 to 100 μg/mL. A matrix effect may occur when analyzing samples containing high concentrations of creatinine or sulfate ions. This can be overcome by using chromatography with methyl ethyl or hydrochloric acid as mobile phase additives. A flow system for chronic exposure studies has been developed using this compound.
