Description:

N-Methyl-1-propanamine is a compound made up of ethylene diamine and activated chlorine. It has been used as a model system to study the biological properties of amines. This compound has been shown to have anti-cancer effects in human serum and is active against inflammation diseases. N-Methyl-1-propanamine is soluble in water, but not in ethanol or acetone. It has a pH optimum at 10 and decomposes at temperatures higher than 120°C. The activation energies for the reactions of this compound with hydrogen bond acceptors, such as alcohols and ethers, are relatively low (around 20 kcal/mol).
