Description:4'-O-Methylcatechin is a synthetic compound that has been shown to have antioxidant properties. It has been shown to reduce the oxidative stress caused by hydrogen peroxide and the reactive oxygen species generated in human erythrocytes. 4'-O-Methylcatechin has also been shown to have a protective effect on DNA and protein from oxidative damage in vitro. This compound is used as an extender for cosmetic products, but its use as an antioxidant is not currently approved by the FDA.
