Synonyms:
- 3-Isobutylglutaric acid
Brand:Biosynth
Description:3-(2-Methylpropyl)pentanedioic acid is an organic compound that is synthesized from ammonolysis of 2-methylpropyl alcohol. Ammonolysis produces a mixture of 3-(2-methylpropyl)pentanedioic acid, 3-(2-methylbutyl)pentanedioic acid, and 3-(3-methylbutyl)pentanedioic acid. The production of these compounds is catalyzed by the addition of acidic solid catalyst, such as hydrochloric acid, to the reaction vessel. This reaction can be used to produce 3-(2-methylpropyl)pentanedioic acid in high yields. It can also be used in the synthesis of amide products and other reactions involving acylation reactions. Urine samples have been shown to contain this compound as well as other related compounds that are present in the environment due to their use as synthetic intermediates or industrial pollutants. Hydrogen fluoride and phosphorus pentoxide are
