Description

Mirabegron is a drug that is used for the treatment of urinary incontinence and overactive bladder. It is a selective beta 3 adrenergic receptor agonist that has been shown to increase detrusor muscle contractility, thereby improving the storage capacity of the bladder. Mirabegron also decreases post-voiding residual volume and increases total voided volume. Mirabegron acts by binding to its receptor in adipose tissue, which leads to increased lipolysis and reduced appetite. The effect on lipolysis may be due to mirabegron's ability to inhibit DPP-IV activity.
