Magnesium hypophosphite hydrate is a chemical compound that is used to produce polymeric matrices. It reacts with hydrochloric acid and a hydroxyl group to form magnesium chloride and phosphoric acid, which then react with calcium stearate to form the desired polymer. Magnesium hypophosphite hydrate has been shown to be stable in the presence of water vapor and metal hydroxides. This product has been used as an additive in rubber compounds, such as paresis, sodium carbonate, and thermal expansion. Magnesium hypophosphite hydrate also reacts with dimethyl fumarate and fatty acids to form magnesium salts.
